Routing Number Guide

Do Navy Federal Business Accounts Use a Different Routing Number?

Last verified against primary sources: October 3, 2026.

No — a Navy Federal business account uses the same routing number as a personal account: 256074974. Every page in Navy Federal’s Business Solutions section prints that number in its footer, the same figure printed across the personal banking pages. What changes when you open a business account is not the routing number — it is the account number, the Access Number, the membership itself, and a handful of forms and fees. The routing number names the credit union; the account number names your account within it.

Below is the evidence for that, pulled from Navy Federal’s own business pages, its business fee schedule and the wire form it issues specifically for business accounts — plus the part that genuinely differs, which is where most of the surprises are.

The short version: what stays, what changes

Item Personal account Business account

Access NumberYour member identifierSeparate — the business form calls it “Business Access No.”

The business pages all print the same number

Navy Federal puts a routing number in the footer of every page it publishes. That footer does not change when you move into the Business Solutions section. We retrieved seven business pages on October 3, 2026, and each one carries “Routing Number: 256074974” twice — once in the header strip and once in the footer:

Not one of those pages prints any other nine-digit routing number anywhere in its body.

Why a business account cannot have a different one

The footer is evidence; the regulation explains why the evidence looks that way. Appendix A to Regulation CC (12 CFR Part 229) describes what the number is:

“Each bank is assigned a routing number by an agent of the American Bankers Association.” — and “The first four digits of the nine-digit routing number … form the ‘Federal Reserve routing symbol,’ and the first two digits of the routing number identify the Federal Reserve District in which the bank is located.”

So the number is assigned to the institution. Nothing in it encodes a product, a customer type or an account. The appendix goes on to say that “Adding 2 to the first digit denotes a thrift institution” — which is how you can read 2560 directly: 25 minus 20 leaves 05, the Fifth Federal Reserve District, with the thrift marker added. Navy Federal is a credit union headquartered in Vienna, Virginia, which sits in that district, and 2560 appears in the appendix’s published list of routing symbols.

That is the structural reason a business account cannot carry a second routing number: doing so would mean the business accounts belong to a different institution, in a different Federal Reserve District. They do not. They belong to the same credit union, and the number that identifies it does not change.

What actually changes when you open a business account

Plenty does — it is just all one level below the routing number.

A separate membership, stacked on a personal one. The business checking page states plainly: “To be eligible for business membership, business owners must first be members of Navy Federal Credit Union.” The FAQ repeats it from the lending side: all business owners must be current Navy Federal members in good standing. Opening requires a deposit of $250 for sole proprietorships and $255 for separate legal entities such as LLCs and corporations. The servicing form lists a Business Membership Savings account with a $5 minimum deposit.

Its own Access Number. The Business Servicing Form, NFCU 97BSFC (8-26), carries a field labelled “Business Access No.” That is a different identifier from your personal Access Number. If you have read our breakdown of Access Number versus account number, the same three-way split applies here, one level up: routing number identifies the credit union, Access Number identifies the member, account number identifies the account.

Its own forms and its own phone line. Business servicing runs on NFCU 97BSFC rather than the personal change-of-information form, outgoing international wires run on NFCU 755E rather than 755B, and the business line is 1-877-418-1462, Monday through Friday, 8 am to 7 pm ET — distinct from the general 1-888-842-6328 member services number. (The same FAQ page quotes 9 am to 5 pm ET for collateral and credit-limit questions, so the hours differ by topic.)

Business fees, from the published schedule

Navy Federal’s Business Checking Schedule of Fees and Charges, NFCU 1284-B (7-26), is a separate document with its own numbers. The ones that matter for payments:

Charge Amount
Bank wire transfer — incomingNo charge
Bank wire transfer — outgoing, domestic$20.00
Bank wire transfer — outgoing, international$25.00
Check/ACH debit returned for non-sufficient funds, business accounts$29.00
Stop payment — single item / multiple items$20.00 / $25.00
Account number reassignments (more than once per calendar year)$25.00
Garnishment, attachment, levy or similar legal process$100.00 per occurrence
Monthly service fee — Business / Business Plus / Business PremiumNone / $8.00 / $20.00

Two things worth noticing. Incoming wires are free on the business side, so the routing number costs you nothing to receive against. And the wire fees are identical to the personal figures — $20 domestic, $25 international — which the business schedule confirms independently.

The business wire form never asks for the routing number

Navy Federal issues a dedicated international wire form for business accounts: NFCU 755E (7-26), titled “International Wire Transfer From a Business Account.” We pulled the current PDF and read it in full. Its Section C asks for “Name of Recipient Financial Institution,” then BIC, then “National ID (if applicable)” — the receiving bank’s identifier, not Navy Federal’s.

The count is the striking part: across the whole form, the strings “routing,” “ABA” and 256074974 each appear zero times. A business sending money abroad never writes its own routing number down. That is the same asymmetry we described for personal accounts in SWIFT code versus routing number: outbound wires use the other institution’s identifier, inbound wires use yours.

Everything else on 755E matches the personal form: a $25.00 delivery fee, funds generally received “within five to seven business days,” a Foreign Currency / USD choice, and “Name of Primary Correspondent Bank: WELLS FARGO,” footnoted “Wells Fargo is the correspondent bank we use to purchase foreign currency.”

One difference is worth flagging before you sign. The current personal form, NFCU 755B (7-23), grants a cancellation right: “The sender has the right to cancel a wire no later than 30 minutes after requesting the payment to receive a full refund plus fees.” The business form 755E (7-26) contains no such clause. It goes straight to “The sender may request a cancellation, and Navy Federal will submit a reversal request … however, there is no guarantee that the funds will be returned.” Both forms state that wires are irrevocable once processed. Because the two documents carry different revision dates, treat this as what the currently published forms say rather than a settled policy statement — and confirm with the business line before sending an amount you might need back.

To receive a wire into a business account, you still hand over 256074974, the Vienna address and — for an international inbound wire — the SWIFT/BIC NFCUUS33XXX. The full field list is in what to give someone wiring money to you.

What we could not verify

Fees, form revisions and product names change. Confirm the current figures on Navy Federal’s own business pages, or by calling 1-877-418-1462, before relying on them.
